How to Prepare Your Home for Painters in Dublin

Confirm the room-by-room scope

Check that your quote identifies walls, ceilings, doors, frames, skirting and any other surfaces you expect to be painted. Note what stays untouched. Do not rely on “paint the room” to settle every detail.

Make a colour schedule with the room, surface, colour name or code and agreed finish. If two bedrooms use similar shades, label them clearly. Tell the painter about recent repairs, stains or other work planned in the same area.

Agree furniture and belongings arrangements

Discuss whether rooms will be completed in phases and when they can be used again. Tell the painter which room is needed for work or sleep and avoid scheduling incompatible deliveries at the same time.

Make arrangements for pets and children to remain away from working areas. For an apartment, confirm access, lift use and any building-management arrangements. Explain parking or delivery limitations before the start date rather than on arrival.

Agree protection, cleanup and handover

Confirm how floors and retained furniture will be protected, where materials can be kept and what cleanup is included. Ask how the household should ventilate and use the space in accordance with the products selected.

At handover, check the agreed surfaces together and record any outstanding items. Save the colour references and ask about cleaning and aftercare. Follow the specified return-to-use guidance before replacing items against freshly finished surfaces.
