The best Wi-Fi camera for your home gives a useful view of the area you need, works reliably at its installed position and supports the way you want to watch or record. Start with the location and the result you need before choosing a model.
Choose the view before the specification
For a front entrance, consider where a visitor stands and where deliveries are left. For a side passage, consider the direction of movement and obstructions. A wide view can show more space without necessarily showing useful detail at the far end.
Position the view around your own property. Choose a camera for a particular task rather than install it wherever mounting is easiest.
Fixed or moving camera? Two Tapo examples
The Tapo C320WS is an outdoor fixed-view Wi-Fi camera. The Tapo C520WS is an outdoor pan-and-tilt model. The manufacturer lists night-vision and two-way-audio features for these models. A fixed view may suit one entrance; a moving view lets you adjust direction but does not watch every direction at once.

Check the installed connection
A strong signal beside your router does not establish that it reaches an outside wall or garden position. We connect cameras to the customer’s Wi-Fi and assess the proposed location. An extender may be needed.
Viewing away from home needs internet access at home and on your phone. Have the phone you will use available for setup.
Think about night viewing and recording
Ask what the chosen model can show at night in the actual location, including nearby lighting and reflections. Product images illustrate features; they are not proof of the view at your home.
Decide whether you mainly want live viewing or need to review earlier footage. Cloud recording is optional and can carry a subscription cost. Confirm recording arrangements before installation.
